The Originals (2013)
A spin-off from The Vampire Diaries and set in New Orleans, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world’s original vampires: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Now Klaus must take down his protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to re-take his city, as he originally built New Orleans. Klaus departed from the city after being chased down by his father Mikael, while it was being constructed and Marcel took charge. As Klaus has returned after many years, his ego has provoked him to become the king of the city. “Every King needs an heir” says Klaus, accepting the unborn child. The child is a first to be born to a hybrid (part vampire, part werewolf) and a werewolf (Hayley).

The Originals First Look: Klaus and Elijah’s Flashback Face-Off and Mikael Returns With a Vengeance
The Originals makes its highly-anticipated debut on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and its bringing along one of The Vampire Diaries’ most infamous big bads: Mikael (Sebastian Roche), Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) formidable father. But wait, you might be asking how that’s possible considering Klaus killed his father in season two of the CW hit. Well, break out your wigs ’cause The Originals is giving us a juicy flashback in its series premiere!
We’ve got six exclusive photos from the series’ Oct. 3 debut, including Mikael torturing Klaus back in the day (with Elijah’s help!), an intense brotherly faceoff and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) serving up some fierce bitch-face!
With flashbacks playing such a major role on The Vampire Diaries, fans can expect to see even more on The Originals given the fact that Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah have clocked some thousand years. “I’ve read the first two scripts and I am just so excited. They both feature elements of flashback,” Morgan recently told us. “They’re both really on a larger scale. This is a war we’re building toward. The first episode takes place on the same timeline as the pilot, only this time we’re seeing Elijah’s point of view, so we’re seeing all the little bits we didn’t see when the pilot aired. So it’s really very exciting for me. And it has a heart-stopping ending.”
Viewers can expect to see a more adult world when the tune into the New Orleans-set series, with creator Julie Plec explaining, “[The Originals] is about the power of the family community and the power struggle over the family community and the supernatural community of an entire city. We like to look at it as, we graduated from high school and went to college and are getting our master’s degree in The Originals.”
OK, we’ll let you get back to ogling The Originals’ ridiculously attractive cast now. You’re welcome, Internet!
The Originals premieres Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. on the CW, before moving to its regularly scheduled night on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.
